Pastor Blankenship was raised in a pastor’s home in Gaston County, North Carolina. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of five after hearing a message preached by his father in school chapel. Pastor’s kindergarten teacher, Nancy Jackson, met him at the altar during the invitation and led him to Christ. As a result of serving in the bus ministry and growing up in a soul winning church, Pastor Blankenship surrendered his life to preach God’s Word at the age of fifteen.
While in Bible College Pastor met Kathleen, and they were married in 2004 upon their graduation from college. During the first four years of their marriage, Pastor served as an evangelist and college administrator at a Baptist College in Raleigh. During that time Pastor & Kathleen served in Beacon Baptist Church under the ministry of Pastor Tim Rabon.
In July 2008, he became the pastor of Laurel Baptist Church. Starting with just a handful of people, pastor has a burden to see a strong Independent Baptist Church in northeast Charlotte. On his first Sunday he preached to 36 people a message that has become the heartbeat of our ministry: “Laborers Together” from 1 Corinthians 3:9. Pastor’s verse by verse teaching and preaching equips our church to have a heart for God, to grow in grace, and to reach the world for Jesus Christ. Today, nearly 300 people call Laurel Baptist Church “home.”
Pastor and Kathleen have two children, Kate and Keegan.
