Jonathan Blankenship | Pastor

Since July 2008, Pastor Blankenship has led Laurel Baptist Church into a growing, thriving ministry in Charlotte. His heart is to help others develop a passionate walk with God through the verse by verse teaching and preaching of God's Word. Pastor Blankenship holds a B.A. degree in Bible & Pastoral Theology and is completing a Masters degree in Bible Exposition.

In his free time he enjoys rooting for his favorite sport's teams: The New York Yankees, Carolina Panthers, Carolina Tar Heels, and Charlotte Bobcats. He also loves NASCAR and playing golf with friends and family. Learn more about Pastor Blankenship and his family here.

Jared Blankenship | Assistant Pastor

Jared joined the staff of LBC in 2009 after graduating from Bible College with B.A. in Bible & Youth Ministry. He is the founder and director of our REVIVE student ministry, he leads our music and media ministries, and he assist our Pastor in the day to day administration of our ministry. It is clearly seen that without his ministry, Laurel Baptist would not be the church it is today. He and his wife, Julie, have one daughter, Ashlynn.

If Jared is not doing ministry, you can find him watching his beloved Carolina Hurricanes play hockey. He also enjoys playing golf and mentoring young people.

Lee Smith | Facilities Director

Lee Smith joined the staff of LBC in 2012. He helps our Pastor in maintaining the facilities daily and serves as a liaison in all building and campus projects. In addition to his role as a staff member, he leads and teaches the JOY small group, sings in the church choir, directs our nursing home ministry, and serves on our men's leadership team. Lee holds an Associate's Degree from Beaufort College.

He loves people, and is one of the greatest encouragers our church has known. He is sport's fan and enjoys reading books that strengthen his spiritual growth. A verse of Scripture that he keeps in mind often is Hebrews 11:6, particularly the thought that God "is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

Julie Blankenship | Administrative Assistant

Julie is the wife of our Assistant Pastor, Jared, and serves with him in our student ministry. As our Administrative Assistant she manages our church office, finances, and is an executive assistant to our Pastor. She and Jared were married in 2009 after graduating from Bible College. Julie holds a B.A. degree in Secondary Education.

Julie loves being a mother to their daughter Ashlynn, and enjoys spending time with family and friends - even if it's watching hockey with Jared. Her motivation for ministry is "the love of Christ" as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15.

Shannon Siganowich | Ministry Assistant

Shannon has been a member of Laurel Baptist since 2010 and joined our staff in 2013. She graduated from Crown College with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education and has also earned an Associates degree in Early Childhood. Shannon uses her abilities to teach young children in our church ministry on weekly basis. As a ministry assistant, she serves as our Outreach Secretary, Missions Secretary, and Events Coordinator.

In her spare time Shannon enjoys reading, baking, and cooking. She is motivated by 1 Corinthians 2:9, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things that God hath prepared for them that love him."

Kathleen Blankenship | Ladies Ministries

Kathleen is married to our Pastor and serves in a variety of ways as our Pastor's wife. She is the church pianist, nursery coordinator, and director of our ladies ministries. She has a heart to serve people and help our ladies grow into godly wives and mothers. She holds a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from Crown College.

Though ministering to our ladies is important, Kathleen would tell you her primary responsibility is ministering to her family. She loves her husband greatly and together they are a tremendous team in the Lord's work. Kathleen and Pastor have two children, Kate and Keegan. She is motivated by Psalm 73:26, "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever."
